During your visit to Prague you should not miss the large Gothic castle founded in the 14th century by Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor. Karl?tejn served as a place for safekeeping the Empire coronation jewels, holy relics and other royal treasures. Located about 35 km southwest of Prague in the village of Karlstejn, it is one of the most famous and heavily visited castles in the Czech Republic. For those interested in fine crystal glass you will find various shops that offer all kind of crystal to prices 20-40% better than those in Prague. The Castle is located on a hill and the countryside is very beautiful. Guided, entrance fee included.
