The Hotel Paris is a historical landmark filled with eye-catching elements of the Art Nouveau style. Before the communist era, the Hotel Paris was Prague’s most distinctive function hall. In 1984 the building was declared a historical monument and in 1991it was returned, by the government, to the Brandeis family who originally owned it and who have managed hotels for 150 years. This establishment is suitable for small groups, individuals, business travellers and the more mature visitor.
Very close (a few minutes walk) to the Old Town Square, just next to the famous ‘Obecni Dum’. Namesti Republiky is very close by and you will find frequent tram services and a metro station giving you easy access to the rest of the city and beyond. Many of Prague’s most important and beautiful historical sights are in the vicinity. Those wishing to spend their hard earned cash will find many of Prague’s most elegant and exclusive shops on the surrounding streets.
This hotel has 86 elegant guest rooms, a honeymoon suite and two apartments that have all been thoroughly modernized. The rooms are handsomely decorated with furniture from the First Republic (1918) and are very private, thanks to their double wooden doors. All rooms are air-conditioned and have a private bathroom with WC and heated floor, luxuries such as a hairdryer and make-up mirror, flat screen satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, high-speed Internet connection, radio, mini-bar and safe. For extra security all rooms have a smoke alarm and are sound-proofed.
The restaurant is exquisite having beautifully decorated walls and ceilings and magnificent doors. It is classic Art Nouveau with blue cleft mosaic and original lighting fixtures, wooden wainscoting and guilded stucco. It is named after the actress and singer Sarah Bernhardt. Outstanding Czech and international cuisine is offered. There is also a café called ‘Café de Paris’ at the hotel where live piano music may be heard every day. It resembles the cafes of Paris and Prague of the 1920s where the Art Nouveau culture and style flourished. Many of the locals come to the hotel to enjoy cocktails and to appreciate its elegant ambience.
